The Committee on the Rights of the Child is the body of 18 independent experts that monitors the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and two Optional Protocols to the Convention by States parties.

The Committee, 1)Periodically reviews States parties’ reports; 2)Publishes general comments and provides authoritative guidance on the Convention’s provisions; 3)Receives individual complaints by children and/or their representatives regarding specific violations of their rights; 4)Initiates inquiries under the third Optional Protocol into allegations of grave or systematic violations of child rights; 5)Organizes Days of General Discussion.
